LED lighting in nano reefs

I was wondering if anyone has experience using LEDs in the aquarium industry, and I am not talking about moonlights. A friend of mine is doing research on plants and he has told me that LEDs have far better results than any other types of artificial lighting. I am looking to see if anyone has information about this lighting for coral growth.
