Canister filters for Nano?

Postby catweh00 » July 30th, 2007, 1:39 pm

Hello everyone,
I am setting up a 29gallon Oceanic Biocube on Friday. I am looking to purchase a canister filter very cheaply from one of my friends. It is an almost new Filstar as seen here

Would this be a good idea to use on a reef set-up? I was thinking I could place a ton of carbon and phosban in the media baskets, while using the coarse and fine filter pads to remove particulate matter from my biocube. I understand that I would need to clean the pads frequently, but I am ok with doing that.

I figure in the inlet could go into the right-hand side compartment and the outlet placed near the return pump in the left-hand side.
Pump is rated for about 350gph or lower.

Does this seem like a good idea?
im a newbie always, please help

I have a small marineland canister on my 24g aquapod. I removed the bioballs and last night I added some sea gel by sea chem and some purigen. I left the coarse and fine filter media and the carbon. I do not know how this is going to work out, maybe some more people will chim in on this.
