New Reef tank setup

Postby gauche » September 12th, 2007, 6:45 pm

I am switching my tank over from a F.O. to a reef tank. My family is tired of seeing other fish get eaten. This is what I need help with. I have a 180gal 72"x24"x24" tank. What would be a good depth for my sand bed? I am intrested in getting this lighting system that has 1134 watts total with the following, (3-250W MH, 4-96W Actinic bulbs, 8-Lunar Leds). Is this enough lighting for the following Corals that I plan to stock my tank with during the upcoming months? Red Mushroom, Yellow Fiji Leather, Green Bubble Coral, Short Tentical Plate Coral, Orange, Tube Coral, Green Hairy Leather, Crocea Clam.

I would say yes that lighting would work. Do you test for alk and calcium? The clam needs good levels of these. Do you run a skimmer? What about water flow? what pumps are you using for it?
