Beckett Injector, HSA DIY

Postby Guest » May 18th, 2001, 2:10 am

Hello all.
I am in the process of making a DIY
HSA Skimmer. Thinking of creating
one from this webpage:
http://www.intltradeinstitute.com/diyhsa.html

Since I have a small tank
20 gallon + 10 gallon sump,

What is the minimum flow that
the becket injector can have?

If I buy a 400 GPH pump, will
that work with this beckett injector?

thanks!!

The becketts eat HP... doubt if that would work... dont know about specifics... but my beckett is run by 1200GPH... - perc

what about a downdraft skimmer?

I see these plans for down draft skimmers.
My confusion is that it says to use
and injector.

What kind of "injector" does it use?
Thanks!

When it comes to injectors of any type, to have them perform properly you must be using 1000gph(generally). Anything your looking at, expect to drop the money for a good pump. If you don't, you'll think your design is bad and possibly scrap a perfect skimmer that was just underpowered.

whirley,

Putting a skimmer run by a beckett on a system with 30 gallons of water is like putting a jet engine in a toyota!! <G>

I would consider a backpak, turboflotor, remora or simialr skimmer that would be better matched to your system.

My becket skimmer has about 5 gallons of water in it when it is running, so the draining of the skimmer itself would half fill your sump.
