Tank drilling questions

Postby rottndog » October 3rd, 2001, 1:43 pm

I would like to drill one of my tanks. I've heard it's quite doable but don't know what tools are necesary or where to buy them. I've heard the bits are rather pricey, no idea how much though. I have a few junk tanks I could practice on. Any input on the subject would be greatly appreciated, especially sources for the right tools. Thanks, Mark

Try here: Ameriglas

Also do a search on this board for drilling glass. (or variations) there have been lots of threads on the subject.

Tank drilling questions

I bought my bit from the link Bingo supplied.

It works great!!

I also purchased a "hand held drill press" from Home depot for about $35. This helps you keep the drill straight and true.

I recomend using a powerful variable speed drill.

Important to take your time and keep the bit cool with water or grinding lubricant.
