Any tables regarding the bowing of an acrylic tank?

Postby sfsuphysics » August 21st, 2008, 6:13 pm

I don't want to get chastised here so I'll simply not state what I did *blush*.. maybe later.

Anyways acrylic tank 18" tall x 18" deep x 72" wide, acrylic is I believe 1/4" (I think it's a truvu tank, i.e. do the most with the least). How much is an acceptable amount of bowing from the center of the tank? I can measure the ends of the tank, and compare to the center and right now it's at about 1/2" further out.

You heat the water to 200 F, didn't you?

1/2 inch sound alright. It depends on the age of the tank a little too. Type of acrylic, size, construction, age, temperature, etc.
Get well NOW Mr. David Mohr!
