HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE.
May the seeds that you have sown in the previous years bear fruit in the New Year.

I hope it works well for everyone, and wish all the very best. :) (Except, going from north of L.A. to L.A. proper, ugh, unless you really do love the city.)

I'm thinking it is sort of like the bucket of crabs analogy. She almost got out, but someone pulled her back in.

Dizzy,

Do you know what the current status is of Marine Specialties International? I think that was the name of her company but I am not sure.

Caterham,
I know nothing about MSI for sure. Seems like it got sold and then closed, but there are others more qualified to answer this question than me.

Wow Gresham,
I read the about us page, and that really begs the question of just who owns REBMAR. It sure didn't mention anything about (Mary) being a sales rep for SDC in late 2008, but I can assure you I saw something that stated that she was. The drama continues.

There's only drama if you want to create it. Sorry to disappoint, but there's no conspiracy theory here. The two owners are listed on the website, in fact, on the very about us page you mentioned, Mitch. Myself and Rebecca Bird. That's it. No conspiracy. No drama. Just chicks. No dicks. :)

Mary, as you can see nothing much has changed here.

Best of Luck on your new endeavour.

Mary if you're running your own company why was SDC listing your name as a sales rep on a December 2008 stock list? Seems like that would be a conflict of interest.

Why, Mitch!! You must really love me and SDC to worry so much about us!!! Thank you!! :)

As much as I'm sure a conflict would interest you, there was/is none. I spent a week at SDC trying a few things with them. We both realized that those things just weren't feasible for either of us. No conflict, no problems, no drama, no conspiracy. Just people who have known each other for a lot of years trying something new together to see if it would pan out. It didn't. Sometimes when you think outside the box it works...sometimes not. We're still on excellent terms and I had a great time hanging out in their warehouse and seeing how the "big boys" run things these days. Very impressed with the way they pull and inspect their fish prior to packing, by the way.

Concerning your bucket of crabs analogy, the last place I want to get pulled back into is this one. So hopefully my reply is sufficient enough to satisfy your curiosity, because I won't be commenting further here. If you're still curious, place a minimum $1500 order with me and I'll answer questions to your heart's content. We accept Mastercard, Visa, Discover, and AMEX. :)

Mary,
Thanks for explaining all that. I thought "if" you were working for Eric and running your own company on the side it would be a conflict of interest. I didn't realize you had left so soon. I doubt I'll be getting involved with transshipping since the DOA in generally higher than I like, but thanks for the offer. Hopefully dragging you back into the bucket this one time will generate some publicity (and business) for your start-up. BTW it's great to see such optimism in the face of widely predicted economic hard times for the coming year. Business must really be booming on 104th St and I hope no bailout is needed there. And lastly I wish you well! If you can do a better job than current crop of ____ then more power to you.

Just to add what Mary has said (now that I have stopped laughing) we speak no evil tongue :)

As Mary mentioned, we have remained good friends over the years and tried to get together to see if a long distant relationship would work.

Even though a new business came out of it, I am VERY excited to hear that Rebecca and Mary are joining forces to start up their OWN business together. SDC will be there for them if they need help, and this could be a very good thing for all involved....including the industry.

"All chicks no dicks:)" You just gotta love it! One thing for sure....it won't be boring!

Mitch....hope you are well and hangin in there. We have been seeing positive signs across the country that the industry is showing some positive movement. I hope it touches you and everyone else:) I was reading about a "Retailers Summit" meeting at the Orlando Trade Show in February...sounds like something I am very interested in attending. When you get lot's of good retailers together....you get good ideas. I very much like to get involved and pass good information around to our customers to help them with new ideas and discuss things that have been working for others. Times like this...it has to be a team effort! Are you considering going?

Take care,

Eric

Hi Eric,
Well the mystery of Mary's name on the stock list has certainly been solved now.........and.........if he followed the links and read the info, Caterham's question has been definitively answered too. And let me say what a wonderful... sharing, nurturing attitude you have. It must be something in the California water that makes you all so welcoming to others. It is also good to hear that you have embraced Obama's message of spreading the wealth.

So far we are hanging in just fine, but I think I'll skip Orlando and use the money the trip would cost for other needs. I don't know if you have time to ever watch the news, but a lot of the pundits seem to be predicting things will get a lot worse before they get much better. I hope they're wrong.
Cheers,
Mitch
