Ok, I put the tang back into the tank. I'm going to get some garlic this weekend and go that route. Hope this works.

Garlic seems to have somewhat of a preventative effect when it comes to C.irritans, and may be of some benefit in helping the fish recover as well. That being said it is NOT a reliable stand alone treatment method, and is certainly not a replacement for hyposalinity or medication. Garlic seems to do the most good with hardy species that have a decent shot of fighting off the parasite in their own anyway. With fragile species, especially when the immune system is severely depressed, I’d venture to state that it almost never works.

Marina has given good advice, but I wouldn’t rush to assume that hypo is unlikely to work. There’s no reason to assume that you’re looking at a strain resistant to lower salinities for one thing, for another this method has a proven track record.

BTW, hypo is administered at 1.009, lowered incrementally over a few days.

What Marina said! Jim, get down below, nothing's changed. You'll feel like you've never been away! :D

Actually, maybe that's not the best line to get him to visit the Sump...

Fighting for the survival of our parks department, embroiled in local political battles more or less against our wishes, our jobs and nature preserve where we reside being attacked, going over out bosses head...winning...making friends and a few enemies while doing the right thing...lots still up in the air...too much to explain.

Back in fishy mode writing an article for TFH, then figured I'd better take a look at the board I'm supposed to be moderating. :)
I can't believe how different this place looks. I feel a bit disoriented.

I have no interest in the Sump any longer, among other reasons, I don't have the self discipline to just look, maybe make a short post, and leave it alone for the rest of the day.
Too many of those posts over to the right there are down there and not up here.

I have a few ideas and will I'll be posting some stickies here in the next week or so.

Cheers

It's a good job I decided to up the percentage of time I spend topside as well. From about 0.3% to maybe 1.4%. So you might even run into me.

Good to see you around and, as for the Sump, good for you. I'm not so strong.

Good luck with your battles for the survival of the parks department!
