QUOTA FOR LIVE ROCK

Postby bobimport » May 11th, 2009, 10:03 am

does anyone know the quota for live rock in Fiji this year? What is the difference between this year and last, and what month did it close last year?

The quotas in Fiji were just released. Not a big difference in total quota but there is a big difference in how the quota was divided up between the exporting companies. There will be quota for live rock that should stretch almost to winter if the market is similar to last year. What may change dramatically is that some export companies are already close to using up the quota alloted to them so that some exporters may run out of rock quota as early as mid summer if the Fiji authorities enforce the way the quota was divided up. It will be interesting to see if they enforce the quotas as divided up between the exporting companies. We should know by July if enforcement will be held as allocated.
