Any news from Manila

Postby Jaime Baquero » September 29th, 2009, 6:21 pm

I was wondering if someone has gotten news from Manila. They had a very nasty storm. Most of the exporters facilities are in Manila City where the damage is very bad.

Jaime,

I am not sure what type of news you seek. The flooding is very bad and over a very broad area. Some areas had (and many still have) over twelve feet of water. The death toll is over 75 (number published in Saint Petersburg Times) and still rising.

Ferdinand Cruz was coming back from Mindanao. He arrived by air in Manila at 8AM last Friday and it took him until 8PM to get back to his home in Los Banos. He is presently assisting with disaster response. Many people are homeless without food and water.

I have no news about what impact the storm and flooding had on Manila based export operations.
