How about a combination of measurements? GISS, Hardcrut, UAH, and RSS?

Sure, i dislike relying on one specific one, especially if it is gubermint funded

(yes i know all have government funding but NASA is a little more direct) My feeling is we will know by 2013 whether the Met office climate models are predicting correctly.
No, they are all directly funded by the government. HADCRUT by the UK gov, GISSTEMP by NASA, UAH by evil government grants and RSS is also NASA
