Sump return pump

Postby Oreo0313 » August 14th, 2010, 4:29 pm

Hello all,

I bought a used 90 gallon bowfront for my living room. It came with a panworld 100px pump. This pump is LOUD! To me, at least. I am looking for the quietest possible external return pump, without getting into the ultra expensive brands. Someone please help. I don't want to go over 800 GPH, as I don't want to blow out the clamps on my existing plumbing. The pump sits behind the tank, so the head will be 4' or so. I will supplement the flow in the tank with a powerhead (any suggestions?). Please help. I'm overwhelmed!!!!

I've gone for the Tunze Silence pump on my 64g. It's the 3000 lph (792 gph) model (there's also a less powerful 634gph model). It made a bit of noise when it started, but is now whisper quiet (it quietened down after a few days) and has an adjustable output, so you can have a return flow that suits you.
