I wouldnt say that I had an outbreak, but I did have a couple bubbles pop up back when my tank was up and running. I just grabbed them with my forceps and removed them. Popped a couple in the process and nothing ever materialized from it. Once removed they never came back.

Spoke to an algae guy, apparently there are more spores on the surface than inside the bubble. Trying to find a paper.

I found out there was nothing inside them when watching mithrax pop them in order to eat them. since adding mithrax didn't cause valonia, ergo water in a vacuole not seeds

I went through this a while back where I had mini-bubble algae just taking OVER my tank. It would grow into a serious mat and squash anything in its path. Plus, since it was small, it stuck VERY well to rock so was near impossible to remove. The only fish I found that went to town on it and fixed my problem was a Desjardin Tang from the Red Sea. The guy did so well I'm keeping him alive on his own in the basement while I figure out when/how to reset-up my tank after 1.5 years as I know I'll need him again. YMMV.
