There are currently 2 separate sets of criteria comprising this list. The first set consists of animals falling into the "Obligate Feeder" category. This list is considered to be completed, however if you have any questions please start a thread. The discussions that led us to categorize these animals can be viewed in the following threads:

We are currently discussing species that grow too large to be suitable for captivity. That discussion can be found here:

The second set of criteria that we are currently working on is "Too large for home aquariums". We will work on them in sections, using the Burgess Atlas as a general guide. Whatever set of animals we are currently discussing will be listed as a "sticky post" at the top of the forum.

BLENNIES
Exallias brevis short bodied - Information stating that this is an obligate SPS feeder and is regularly imported.

BUTTERFLIES- Documented evidence that they are obligate coral polyp feeders. Additional species are from www.wetwebmedia.com/poorchaetodons.htm

ANIMALS CONSIDERED TO BE TOO LARGE FOR HOME AQUARIA


Sharks & Rays
We decided that it was much easier to create a list of suitable sharks and rays. The following animals have been determined as suitable for appropriate hobbyists:

Banded & Cat Sharks- Chiloscyllium sp., Parascyllium sp., Asymbolus sp.
Epaulette Sharks (I'll have to get the species later)
All rays that do not exceed 2' in length.

All of a sudden people won't import them?


I don't see where this is going. Will it have any impact whatsoever?

It's going no where. The original momentum behind the creation of these lists could have led to getting something done. However, if you were following many of the discussions on here, everything quickly broke down, got ridiculous, and I lost interest in working with hobbyists on this issue. I don't know why all of these threads got "stickyed"- I didn't do it and I won't be engaging hobbyists in further discussion about them.

Democracy is a PITA and looks fruitless sometimes but to truly acomplish anything worthwile needs input from everyone involved.

To bail out now because things are not going well is imho a cop out and in a way alienates the hobbiest even more. NOTHING can be accomplished without the support of the people and to turn your back on them is a mistake imo.

But of course that is just my opinion

My stance on this is nothing new. Go here http://reefs.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t ... ng+helping to read my original thread about not getting the hobbyists involved anymore. If you'd like to pick up my dropped torch and run with it, you're more than welcome. But not getting so heavily involved in industry politics is a personal decision I've had to make for my own sanity.

SPC:

I have resigned from MAC. I told them I am still willing to help them if they'd like help, but not surprisingly I haven't heard a word from them. I refuse to be a part of their "bandaid on a broken leg" approach. There is nothing about MAC that would improve my quality standards, in fact just the opposite. If they can get their program on a more realistic track that will lead to real reform, then believe me I'll jump back on board. There was a link to my MAC/AMDA resignation on my website for the past few months, but the site is down right now. Once I get it revamped, I'll put it up there again so you can see it.
