Why do on & offline fish shops toy with newbies?

It really only applies in this forum. This forum is for discussing the Industry Behind the Hobby.

The reason we have the policy is just like Chucker said. If a bunch of people jumped up and said "Wholesaler X sells cyanide caught fish," there would be a problem. Let's think about it. What is in place to stop Wholesaler Y from making that post? Is there any way for us (reefs.org) to verify these claims? (no) Is it our job to verify claims like these? Nope again.

Can we get sued by Wholesaler X if posters make claims like these? The answer is a resounding yes. Do we have the legal staff or $$$ to defend against a suit like that? Nope.

Do we have a problem with you posting "I think a Seachem test kit is better than a Salifert?" in other forums? No. As you can see, there is a big difference.

Cheers
James
