Nipple Nonsense

Postby reefraf » April 3rd, 2002, 2:32 pm

This article by Richard Harker does not really address the possibility of bulb failure due to nipple orientation. I have an associate that had to replace the bulb on a clients' tank when the bulb failed. The client insisted that the nipple pointing down was the cause of failure and will happen anytime the nipple is so oriented.
Comments?? Thanks!

Sounds like another form of nonsense to me.

I agree, Charles. However it would be great to have that documented as evidence for this client. The bulb was $200 CDN to replace.

There is no wat the orientation of the nipple caused the failure. Now if they were running a bd in the horizontal position or a bh in the vertical, that could cause a lamp rupture, buteven that is rare.
