I do not believe that a sitting American president would allow thousands of military style, high powered weapons to be funneled into the hands of narcoterrorists lurking on our southern border as part of a clandestine “We have to go through a few processes, but under the radar” plan simply to bolster this admins argument for disarming citizens.

I think it's pretty much a given that they (the administration) knew they were letting guns walk. It had been going on for a long time. They decided to let them walk a little further to try to catch more bad guys. No great surprise there.
