URI Bulb Question

Postby jiml77 » July 11th, 2001, 2:40 pm

I am getting ready to replace VHO lamps on my tank that I purchased used. URI has a Actinic White lamp that is a combo of 5k white and actinic blue. Do you use them exclusively or mix them with actinics. Previous owner had 2 and 2, but it looks like from the specs that they have both in them and do not need to be mixed.

Thanks,

Jim

URI Bulb Question

I'd be interested in an intensity (PAR) analysis on these combined phosphur bulbs. Four actinic-whites (or 50/50's) always seem dimmer then a supposedly comparable 2 true actinic + 2 true daylight combination. If it were me, I'd get the real deal (2 actinics, 2 daylights), and stagger the bulbs.

URI Bulb Question

Hi, URI's actinic white bulb or so-called 50/50 does best when complimented with an actinic 03 bulb IMO. If you have a 4 bulb VHO setup a good combo would be 2 actinic whites and 2 actinic 03's.
