Thanks for posting this Dustin.

So you are saying to use 25mg of Interceptor per 10 gallons. Not 25mg of Milbemycin Oxime. Is that correct?

Will we be able to get enough of it from the vet? I have a small dog and I use the interceptor for heart worm prefentive, will they sell enough for a 350 gal system. Since it is by prescription.

That is 25mg of the entire tablet. Each tablet in the pack of 6 will treat about 380 gallons.

I don't know how your vet is going to handle it. Tell em what its for, be honest.

Okay, it will be worth a try. I'm sure I'm going to get some strange looks and a lot of questions. I wished this stuff wasn't prescription only. So Dustin all I need is maybe 3 packages of 6 for a total of three seperate treatments

reefnut - EACH TABLET is enough to treat about 380 gallons.

I think that is what Dustin was afraid of someone nuking their tank with an overdose and blaming him.

People, please make sure you know what you are doing before trying this.

Each pill treats 350 to 400 gallons. There are 6 pills in a box. You will have enough to treat your system 6 times if you get a full box.

Remember you need the large dog pills.

People, I am going to say it one more time.
This medication seems to be safe. It has been run in multiple hospital tanks, and 7 full blown reefs.
However, that does not mean that something different will happen in your tank.

If you use it be careful, follow the directions very very carefully. Post any questions you have. Read this thread, and the original thread word for word.

Again, its your choice to use this, you can only hold yourself responsible.

Thanks everybody. I just set up my tank and the red bugs are on 1/3 of my frags. I will get enough medications to treat the whole tank.

Okay got it. I will follow the directions will close. I think I can get them to sell me one box of six. That will be easier than 3. I barely read all the directions I was thinking 1 pill per 10 gals. Don't worry I'll read the directions very carefully before I start the treatment. And I'll ask before I do anything stupid.

Thanks Dustin

Dustin,
How did you pick this does? Was it "just a does and see if it work"?
My system volume is about 550 g. I wonder if I should use two tabs instead of measure an exact number. I don't ahve that fine of a scale.
I gess I will just have to read the thread and see what happen is some people who overdosed their tank. Amybe I will use 1.5 tablets.
I do know that as with any medication, one is good does not mean two is better. This may get into the toxic range.

I'm not sure about legal issues but you can purchase them here without a prescription:

I figured out the dose by testing in specially set up tanks.

Please follow the instructions posted. Dont assume your tank will be ok if you over dose. If you dont have a scale accurate enough to weigh the medication, find one, borrow one, buy one or dont use it.

Funny you just posted that. I ordered the medication from them this morning. I was going to wait and make sure the order went fine before I posted that info. I'll let you know if I actually receive it.

Hopefully the Interceptor doesn't get intercepted by customs!

BTW, the shipping is $10 for 3-8 day air delivery and it's $5 for 8-12 day regular mail delivery. My total was $45.99 air delivery.

Anyone actually look into how to measure out the medication? A scale with 0.001 readability is really hard to find, let along having one lying around. I can find scales that are good to 0.01 grams for about $60, but nothing at 0.001. Any suggestions?
