I can't set up another tank, well actually I could but I refuse to have more than one tank plus the quarantine tank necessary for the one.

You do realize that reefing is an addiction don't ya? If I add another, It will never end

I can stop any time I want to hehe

I'm not much on Ophiuroidea but I'll give it a shot. Based on the size of the critter and the pics I would say that this is indeed a member of the genus: Ophiothrix but probably of the genus: spiculata. There are myriads of colorations and are found not only off the coast of California but Australia, Indonesia, etc. Beautiful critter for a Common Brittlestar. :)

Oh yeah, Bry, the sump would be just fine for him. You could add another bit of live rock, but really, all you need do to keep it happy is feed it directly.

I think they have light sensory organs in their arms.
