It apparently is an undescribed one with a high dorsal fin, without any filament. It seems not to be close to rubriventralis- complex.

I really want to get the male someday, and thanks for your information !

I got this 80mm-long Cirrhilabrus balteatus some 60 hours ago. It is still a young individual but has an almost adult coloration. When I released it to the larger tank it soon accepted dried foods.

It is very closely related to C. temminckii, C. katherinae and C. punctatus. A rare fish with a high price, shipped from the Marshalls, northern Pacific.

very nice as always..i had one of those once but it did not make it very long..they are very high priced but sweet color when displaying!!..a couple new pics i got

I know you guys to really like wrasses but here's a pic of gymno. Melatramus. Got him from a diver from Hawaii and deals directly to the public at great prices. He ate fresh cockles right away and he is very pugnacious. He's not the shy eel that everyone said that he would be. He made friends with the snowflake right away.

i have noticed that when i have my pumps off when i am cleaning my yellowfin goes into super displaying mode here are a few pics i got not the best but you get the idea...i had one that i got but it was way too blury..where the whit is not turned a crazy deep purple color i have seen him do that a quite a few times but the pic always comes out looking bad..maybe i can catch that soon

Interesting, wrasseguy, and you see that only when you've got the pumps turned off? What are his tankmates, and do they show any interesting behavior at the same time?

the yellowfin did it when all the powerheadas were off my return pump was on..he does display some wehn they are all on but seemed to do it more when they are off..its tankmates are a laboutei, lineatus, a juv. redfin, and a possum wrasse..none of the other fairys did this..whith him doing that it gave me more chances to get pics of it..i got some things to do today so i am going to try it and see what happens..i will let you know how things go

Here is a new comer from Vanuatu, Cirrhilabrus exquisitus, male, 80mm. This quite handsome species has red margined pectoral fins that propels rapidly for swimming.

Thank you, wrasseguy and I will be happy by sharing photos with wrasse-lovers.

Today I got three fishes, one of them is a tiny goby, Fusigobius signipinnis from Ishigaki Island, southern part of the Ryukyus. It is just 30-mm long and feeds well on small chopped foods on the sands.

It is very peaceful and not active. The dorsal fin almost always is spreading and it sometimes folds the 'signal'.

Wow, Dr. Tanaka - that Fusigobius is beautiful!

We see the orange ones from Indian Ocean somewhat frequently, but the red dorsal is amazing.

Today I photographed a male Cirrhilabrus filamentosus displaying before my eyes. It was scared until a new comer (C. cyanopleura) was introduced but now the Filamented Fairy Wrasse will try to attack it.

Upper; usual coloration; a white abdomen, and darker tail.

Lower; exciting colors; a blue-black area in most of abdomen, a bright, bluish tail, with all fins spread to threat the new comer.

very pretty whipfin..i have kept 2..the first being one of the first fairys i got..and both were by far the most aggressive fairy that i have kept..i had a tonos that was the same way also..my friend just got one and he told me it took out 3 chromis..mine took out two before i traded him away..very pretty though i love fish with long filaments..nice pics again as always Hiroyuki

Well, I'd tried Cirrhilabrus filamentosus last year.....It is so aggressive that I'll never keep it again.

Thanks, guys. The Filamented Fairy Wrasse has calmed down but sometimes tries to threat other fishes like this Cirrhilabrus cyanopleura, young male.

The exquisitus from Vanuatu is more aggressive toward the filamentosus now but he does not threat others in the tank. It sometimes turns whitish in some areas on side, and darkens other parts.
