Many thanks for the detailed info.

I understand why they are swimming there in the early morning. In the evening most fishes are disappearing and also this blenny, too.

Yacht Harbor at 6:30 July 16, 2006

A small puffer, 1cm and Heniochus acuminatus, 5cm long at the surface.

Today (July 20, 2006) I got three specimens of Cirrhilabrus and here is one of them.

It seems C. lunatus but has a red area on head and back, and also a darker side.

C. lunatus is known from deeper waters of s. Japan to New Caledonia (scattered).

Today I got a juvenile Genicanthus lamarck, 60mm. July 22, 2006.

It is active and soon accepted some foods. The black stripes on filamentous tips of tail are characteristic to females.

Sweet! You'll not find a bigger fan of genicanthus angels than me.

I've kept nearly all of them that are available in the hobby.

You have kept all the species of Genicanthus available? It is great. What is your dream Genicanthus ? I want to get a male of G. takeuchii that is restricted to the Ogasawara Islands (Bonins) where is no airport. The species was first discovered in Marcus, the southeastern most island in Japan, as you know.

Today (July 24) I took some shots of Cirrhilabrus.

C. rubrimarginatus, male from Vanuatu, 12cm. It has a pink band on the back.

C. exquisitus, male from Kenya, 9cm. It is green overall with a red area behind eye.

July 26, 2006. Yacht harbor.

A colorful boxfish, some 10cm long with numerous blue spots at the surface.

Also I found a very pretty and colorful cuttlefish at the surface. It was 7cm long in total and was swimming so slowly to catch small animals.

You are so right about those False Cleaner Wrasses, a friend of mine caught me one and 'did me a favour' by dropping it in my previous tank whist I wasnt there- expecting it to be a nice surprise for me... The da#b thing near killed 2 fish before I got home and realised what was happening. They deliberately mimic authentic cleaner wrasse and target the soft (and no doubt tasty) gill flesh when the target fish opens up to them expecting a nice clean. They also hang on with their teeth and are difficult to get off the 'host'... the 2 victims never recovered and died within 48 hours

The boxfish looks like a juvenile Ostracion immaculatus :

Today I photographed a frogfish, probably Histrio histrio, over 10 cm long. It was just around a large floating wood at the surface (at the same yacht harbor). 7:00 AM, July 28, 2006.

A barracuda, 30- 35cm at the surface to catch foods.
A juvenile cleaner wrasse was around it (see the arrow).

I found a frogfish of some 8cm long at the surface at the yacht harbor. 7:00 AM, July 31, 2006.

It was very slowly walking around the rocks and sometimes stopped like a dead fish for some 10 minutes. It is an outstanding fish just while it is moving.

I don't think thats a cuttlefish, IMO it's a squid.

I know that it is a juvenile Sepioteuthis lessoniana, the Bigfin Reef Squid. It ranges Indo-Pacific, and found in shallow to deeper (100 meters) waters. See Cephalopods, A World Guide; Octopuses, Argonauts, Cuttlefish, Squid, Nautilus (by Mark Norman, 2000) for detail. I was very lucky to see such a juvenile.

Yesterday evening I got two males of Cirrhilabrus adornatus, nearly 7cm.
One of them is here and the unnamed red fairy wrasse (Cirrhilabrus species) from Sulawesi is curous about it. August 6, 2006.

I got a new Cirrhilabrus roseafascia, young male 10cm from Cebu. It is doing and ate foods very well. The tail became somewhat rhomboid.
