Thanks. Do you like the hydors? They look to be competitors to the Nano Streams.

HYDOR

Postby shavo » September 21st, 2007, 10:16 am

do i like them? I am still on a trial run, one time it just stopped. didn't work i took it apart and cleaned it and it works again, but now the cap for the impellar doesn't want to stay on tight. i have adjusted it twice in the past few days because it loosens up. it holds the impellar shaft in place so when that isn't on it wobbles a little. the maxi jets are hassle free, i was thinking about getting the maxi upgrade kits. I actually tried before but the "great" people at TRITON AQUATICS sold me the mods then never sent them to me, so stay away from them!!!!

ANYBODY HAVE ADVICE FOR GOOD MOD KITS?????? looking to purchase here

Premium aquatics sells one that comes with a swivel as well. I've heard good things about it but I think it only works with up to a MJ 600.

Thanks for the link Mr. X. I have two new Maxijet 900's I could use a kit like those listed on. Using the modified maxijets on a wave timer might do exactly what I want for the future of my new tank. 8)

Correction to this. The prop/magnet they send you will work with any of the MJs but the original MJ900 and MJ1200 magnets, which would deliver you more flow, will not work with the cover.

Yes, they'll work. But people that mod these pumps themselves usually buy a new prop (custom props for remote control stores that are bigger) to use with the MJ1200s to get 2000+GPH out of them. Allegedly, you can still get around 1500GPH just by buying this kit we're discussing and using the prop and magnet they send you. ;)

The thing is that the magnet they send is a little smaller than the original. The original would push more water but it won't fit.

Does that make sense now? To me, it doesn't make much of a difference since you still get a huge increase in flow and better flow dispersion. This mod kit seems to be pretty nice for the price, if you ask me!!! :D

thanks, yes I understand now, they are out of stock on these now and I had to sign on a waiting list to get one. I saw them on another website but I have had a hard time getting a nice mod kit, so I will wait for them to be back in stock.

thanks man
