I read what you said about your silencer. I had the same problem with a DIY skimmer i was messing around with, real noisy! I had seen a design that involved a 1in diameter piece of pvc approximately 3 in long with an end cap on each end. The person had drilled a hole in each cap and placed a rigid piece of tubing into the holes. The tubes (two seperate pieces of rigid tubing large enough for the flex hose to slip over) were just simply inside of the 1in tube not touching each other. If this is as clear as mude let me continue. I thought if this works what if both pieces of rigid tube entered on one end of the contraption? I just so happened to have a buble counter from an old calcium reactor laying around. I stuck this on the venturi hose and was deafend w/ silence. I take no credit for this inovation but seriously it works. :D

If i have confused this simple device please let me know and i will draw/snap a picture

thanks for taking the time to show your improvement here

good luck
