Postby liquid » January 10th, 2005, 8:33 pm

In this month's Advanced Aquarist's Online Magazine, we have a mystery animal seeking identification. Can you guess what it is?

mantis shrimp
Video games don't affect kids. If Pacman had any effect on kids they would run around in the dark gobbing pills listening to repetitive music.

How big is that sucker? I take it we're looking at just its head, right?

Aha, so the "mystery fish" is actually a mantis and not a blob of orange jelly as I initially thought :-).
Actually I was split between jelly and algae :-).

I had no clue (still have lots of questions) what I was looking at - can you post a legend with numbers with the picture (e.g., 1 eye, 2 mouth, 3 leggs, etc)?

Thanks,
Mihai

The 2 structures in the upper right are his eyes. The raptorial appendages (this one is a slasher) are folded in front running from upper right to lower left.

Here's a great site with some wonderful pics....

Enjoy :)

Oh, and here is another pic of this new found species --
