Economy's Impact?
How as the economy effected your reefkeeping habits?
I am spending more then ever.
I have not changed my reefkeeping habits.
I have reduced my livestock and drygood purchases.
I am postponing all purchases of all non-essential items.
I am quitting the hobby due to the economy.

Prefilter

Use a screen from your Magnum diatom filter as a simple DIY prefilter for your overflow box.

By Ken Uy

The plastic screen cylinder that's used to support the diatom cartridge in a Magnum filter makes a good, easily washed prefilter for an overflow box. It slips right in the bulkhead, and traps algae and big particles. It doesn't have enough nooks and crannies to make rinsing it off difficult, so it won't become a nitrate source since it's just sooooo easy to slip it off, rinse it off, and slip it back in.
