Reef Keeping Philosophy:
|
Take advice with a grain of salt, then do what
works for you... it probably won't work for anyone else, because no
two systems are the same. Always take your critters' health
seriously. OTOH, don't take yourself so seriously, you're in this
because it's fun!

Knowedge is the key to success, and patience the

any endeavor, and reefkeeping is most certainly no exception.

38 gallon reef. 1x250 watt Iwasaki halide + 2x95
watt VHO actinics. Bakpak skimmer. Kalkwasser for makeup water and
Ca/alk. Soon to be upgrading to a custom 80 gal tank with
dimensions of 4'x2'x16" tall.

|
Reef Keeping Philosophy:
|
Know the animals' needs BEFORE you buy it and
once you have it strive to give it the best environment you can.
PATIENCE also comes to mind as well. Have patience. Good things
come to those that wait young grasshopper. :)

|
Favorite Fish:
|
It's a tie between my Banggai cardinals and my
A.ocellaris.
|
|
Favorite Coral:
|
I would have to say it would be M.capricornis or
tabling Acropora sp.
|
|
Favorite Invertebrate:
|
My black cucumber.
|
|
Dream Reef System:
|
An 8'x3'x3' tall tank with a large school of
Anthias squamapinis would be killer. Rock work would recreate a
reef flat and the back of the tank would be strewn with rock zip
tied together to simulate a reef wall. The sump would be in the
basement in the "fishroom laboratory" where all of my equipment
would be housed. Filtration for the system would be a large
refugium, an algal turf scrubber, and a huge skimmer. In addition
to the tank, a coral prop tank would be set up as well as breeding
tanks for various fish.
|
|
Other Hobbies:
|
When not messing around with my reef tank or
spending time with my wife and son, I also enjoy reading,
backpacking (aspire to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail someday),
and martial arts.
